From Media Logic to Mediatized Diversity?

On the annual conference of the German Sociological Association (DGS), Priority Program-member Andreas Hepp organizes a section panel about mediatization from the perspective of the sociology of knowledge and communication.


The panel is organized together with Prof. Dr. Bernt Schnettler (University of Bayreuth) and focusses on the increasing differenziation of the the social concept of Mediatization during the last years.

In seven presentations different aspects and questions dealing with the potencial of media regarding higher cultural diversity are picked up and resumed. One aim is to discuss the current development of the concept of Mediatization on a theoretical and emprical level. Mediatization became a key concept to grasp the mediatized and communicative construction of culture and society.

The section panel "From Media Logic to Mediatized Diversity? Mediatization from the perspective of the sociology of knowledge and communication" is framed by the 36th Conference of the German Sociological Association (DGS) and takes place at October 4th, 2012 at the Ruhr-University in Bochum.
