New publication by priority program project "Mediatized Everyday Worlds of Translocal Communitization" out now
22.05.2014
The German-language volume "Mediatisierte Welten der Vergemeinschaftung. Kommunikative Vernetzung und das Gemeinschaftsleben junger Menschen" authored by Andreas Hepp, Matthias Berg and Cindy Roitsch has just been published by Springer VS
The "generation internet" is discussed intensively. Young people are believed to be broadly networked by digital media and constantly reachable by mobile phones. They also use (internet-)television and digital music extensively. When engaging in political activities, they organize these by using online media. One could describe young people's communitization as community building in and through media. But is this image correct? Are young people really oriented in these ways when it comes to their communicative networking? These questions are addressed in the book based on two-year empirical research among youths and young adults aged 16 to 30.
