New publication of priority program project "Schools as Mediatized Social Organisations"

The German-language volume "Mediatisierte Organisationswelten in Schulen" authored by Stefan Welling, Andreas Breiter and Arne Hendrik Schulz has just been published by Springer/VS

Starting from the basic assumption that communication constitutes organizations, this volume considers the question how communication among the teaching staff in schools is changing as part of mediatization, and which consequences this has for the organizational reproduction of the school. This question has not been considered within school development research up to now. The study is based on extensive case studies at two urban comprehensive schools. It integrates focus group discussions, qualitative interviews, participant observation and logfile-analyses of user data generated by so-called school information systems.
