Priority Program member Andreas Hepp holds presentation on "Cultures of Mediatization" at CICANT Summer School
At the CICANT (Centre for Research in Applied Communications, Culture and New Technologies) Summer School at the University of Lusófona in Portugal Priority Program member Andreas Hepp presents his thoughts on "Cultures of Mediatization: Communicative Figurations and the Challenge of Mediatization Research". With this keynote he opens the Summer School which takes place from June 3 to June 12 and which is an advanced training program in Research Methods, Society and Media.
The aim of the presentation is to discuss the three most prominent challenges of mediatization research: How can we describe a ‘media specificity’ if we share the argument that we are confronted with a multiplicity of media? How can we understand the ‘mediation of everything’ in a way that does not position ‘the media' at the centre of everything? And finally: How can we analyse ‘change’ in such a frame?
